Trustees voted unanimously Wednesday to direct Priscilla de Mata, the San Elizario Independent School District's attorney, to prepare and submit a letter to the state board "regarding actions taken by State Board of Education Representative Georgina Pérez in our district. " The complaint was discussed behind closed doors during a nearly two-hour executive session, and SEISD Board President Sandra Licon briefly outlined the allegations against Pérez after trustees returned to open session. Pérez is alleged to have called an unnamed SEISD employee on Oct. 17 to inquire why the district unsubscribed from Learning List, a paid service that reviews textbooks and online learning resources that meet Texas curriculum standards, according to its website.
