China Eastern Airlines careers China Eastern Airlines is an airline based in Shanghai, China. It is one of the major airlines of China, operating international, domestic, and regional routes. The Chinese government established China Eastern Airlines after the government reformed the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Subsequently, it became one of the biggest airlines in the world and the second largest airline in China. China Eastern Airlines also has a subsidiary airline, called China Cargo Airlines, which handles all cargo routes. In addition, the company owns Shanghai Airlines and China United Airlines, a low-cost carrier serving the Asian aviation market. China Eastern was also the first Chinese airline to be listed on a domestic stock market when it took over China General Aviation, an unprofitable airline in China. China Eastern Airlines joined the airline alliance SkyTeam in 2011. As of 2019, China Eastern operates an impressive fleet of 537 aircraft, which are also very relatively new – the average age of their aircraft just more than 6 years.
