In 2020, we adapted to a virtual format that had organizations submit online-based tours and presentations to allow people to participate from a safe distance. This year, we celebrate Education and the creative solutions people use to formally or informally reach their audience. We will promote any in person gathering, on line content (webinar / virtual tour / presentation), or any other open educational resource in the format of your choosing. Your event, tour or resource will be promoted through the festival marketing campaign and / or housed on our webpage and YouTube channel.

Edmonton police department open the doors to new southwest community station | Edmonton Sun Skip to Content Edmonton News Jun 04, 2013 • June 4, 2013 • 1 minute read City police will officially open the doors to the new southwest division station on Wednesday morning. The station, located at 1351 Windermere Way, replaces the current cramped and aging station at 9710 51 Ave., which opened its doors in 1976. In addition to police headquarters downtown, there are currently four large stations located in the four divisions of the city, along with several community stations. Last month, however, Police Chief Rod Knecht told city councillors there has been a steady drop in the number of residents visiting the nine community stations in the city. An evaluation of those stations will take place throughout the summer to determine what, if anything, will be done with them. A new police station and training facility is also proposed for the northwest, but construction has yet to begin since the city has yet to secure the land.
Did you know that the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association is a UNESCO/CIOFF partner? We are. As a partner organisation we are extremely proud to support March 21st, which UNESCO has named "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. " According to a July 2020 IPSOS REED poll, "Majority (60%) See Racism as a Serious Problem in Canada Today, Up 13 points Since Last Year. Nearly a Third of Canadians (... 28%) Say They Have Personally Experienced Racism in the Past Year (+5%)". As you know our events, HeritageFest () and Multicultural month () are designed to bring people together in a spirit of sharing and respect in order to fight racism. The good news is that, according to the Canadian Psychological Association, "Contact between individuals of different backgrounds has been shown to improve mutual acceptance. " Please share the post, and share the message with action and outreach. Peace. JimG See More Sharing some news items about this summers festivals. There is hope.
